It’s official! Sarah Wood Communication became an LLC earlier this month after a somewhat anti-climatic online filing. Don’t get me wrong; I appreciate that it was an easy process, but after the months and months I spent thinking about whether or not I should officially become a business, it went quickly once I actually made the decision. I’m proud to be able to say I’m now a small business owner, and working on obtaining woman-owned and small business designations.
How will this change affect my existing clients?
There will be no change to services provided or client interactions. You’ll still receive the level of personalized attention and specialized communication services you’ve come to expect. When existing contracts expire, any new contracts or extensions will be changed to reflect the company’s LLC designation and EIN tax number. For some of you, this may mean it’s easier to comply with IRS regulations that distinguish who can be classified as an outside contractor and/or consultant that does not receive employee benefits.
How will this change affect new clients?
Any new contracts will automatically include the official company name (Sarah Wood Communication, LLC) and EIN tax number. If your organization has been leery of doing business with unincorporated individuals, this should provide you with an extra level of comfort around moving forward on new collaborations.
As we move into 2018, I look forward to developing new and expanding existing client relationships. Don’t hesitate to contact me with your communication needs, large or small!
